Elements of Art

Knowing about the basic Elements of Art and Principles of Design can not only serve as a basis for creating dynamic art, but can also equip you with terminology and techniques for and describing art using descriptive language.

  1. Please read the Elements of Art  Handout.
  2.  After reading the Elements of Art Handout, complete the Elements of Art NotesTurn your Elements of Art Notes into the “Turn In Basket” for your period on the book case.
  3. Go to  Google classroom and complete the google “Elements of Art” assignment.  Directions:
    a. Go to www.google.com/culturalinstitute/project/art-project.
    b. Go to the middle of the “page” and look for “Artists.” Click on the “View All” icon on the right hand side of the
    screen. Now find a different picture that represents each of the elements of art.
    c. Take a screen-shot of the piece of art (command-shift-4). The image will appear on your desktop. Remember you
    need the following info. –Title, Artist Name, Year, and Medium.
    d. Under “Observation, “write a sentence in your own words describing why the image is that element of art.
